Bluebell woods

It's been a beautiful sunny day and I headed late morning to Blackbury Camp with my husband.  It's an old Iron Age hill fort that is well known for its bluebells.  We weren't disappointed as they smelt lovely and were out in full bloom.  Many people were also there enjoying the sight and even sketching the scene.

We had a short wander around the area before heading to the nearby Honey Farm but its carpark was full so we stopped off at the Donkey Sanctuary for lunch.  It was a good choice as after a relaxed lunch in the new cafe we decided to go for a walk towards the sea.  My husband walked down the steps to Weston Beach while I explored The Plats, an area of former garden plots where vegetables were grown for exporting to London as the warm sunny climate here created an earlier crop.  They were abandoned many years ago and are now overgrown.

We stopped off at a supermarket on the way back home so a productive day as well as an enjoyable one.
