Up in the Sierra Nevada
Up in the Sierra Nevada
Today we drove up into the Sierra Nevada to visit a Refugio (sort of like a DOC hut for those in New Zealand), which is managed by the daughter and son-in-law of our friends. Trampers can stay overnight and can have their evening meal, breakfast and picnic lunch provided. It is quite remote and we were up above 2,000 metres. The scenery is stunning and there is no noise so it is very quiet and peaceful. We had lunch there sitting in the sunshine, sheltered from the wind.
MrMacD and I went for a short walk before lunch and a longer walk after lunch. It was great to get some fresh air and exercise, admire the views and find tiny, colourful little flowers bursting forth.
The drive there and back along narrow, winding mountain roads was a bit hair raising, but we made it safely.
I am still way, way behind dipping into blippers’ journals. There hasn’t been much spare time. Apologies if I don’t catch up for a while.
The main blip is of the scenery. The first extra shows the Refugio up close and then two shots of it way in the distance to give an idea of its remoteness. The second extra comprises photos of the tiny little flowers.
