Flayin da Bank

A fairly breezy day, cold, sunny spells and showers, wintery at times.  A lovely calmer evening, and still light after 2130hrs.

Day off, and a few days holidays for a week off work.  A few things done around the house and greenhouse this morning, and a trip to Lerwick.  The rest of the day has mostly been in the peat hill.  Walkies with Sammy, now feet up with the telly.

A weeks holiday to try and get my peats cast and ready for the summer.  Last year was terrible, with a cold May and wet summer, this year I'm starting earlier to give myself a head start. Today was mostly flaying the bank, cutting the faels (turf) of the bank, and placing it on last year's cut to heal itself.  This evening I even managed to cast a few peats.  Looking over my bank, Hill of Fitch, Tingwall.
