A snip at €100?

A couple of weeks ago, on our excursion to Gorey, we saw a sign pointing to an antique shop.  Having parted with a couple of our display cabinets (because the house near Loughrea wouldn't have accommodated them) we now have more than enough room for a display cabinet.  So an antique shop seemed a good place to start in our hunt for a suitable one.  We found the shop we had passed (Loch Garman antiques) had an online presence, and thought it worth a visit.

En route there, we stopped off at a hardware/paint store in Enniscorthy, chose the paint colours for the exterior of our house, and bought paint for the internal walls of the workshop.  We had intended to buy ordinary emulsion, but the knowledgeable and enthusiastic guy in the shop suggested that masonry paint would actually do a better job.

After leaving there, we found our way to the antique shop.  In fact, it was smaller than I expected, and more "junk shop" than antiques (in extras is a representative corner!).  But we did find a rather nice standard lamp (albeit with a broken switch) and W rather fancied this tractor seat to convert into an idiosyncratic seat for his workshop, until he was quoted the price. Apparently it is quite rare and collectable.

We bought the standard lamp, and then, as we were leaving, I spotted a rather nice oak display cabinet that had just been delivered, complete with cobwebs.  So our mission was successful - it will be delivered early next week.

We then went a little further towards Gorey, where we'd seen a garden centre we had thought might be worth exploring.  It had a small and limited stock of plants, but a decent cafe, and compost at a competitive price.

Home via Enniscorthy, where we stopped briefly to spec out a couple of charity shops - seems likely we can offload some of our unwanted books and other stuff there - we'll return on a week day when it's a bit less busy.
