Esposende to Viana do Castelo (25km)

I slept like a log last night, helped by the fact that although we were in a mixed dorm, we had it to ourselves.
Off after breakfast and no cloud at all today so it was hard going to say the least and I’ve now got my second blister! Much more uphill and inland rather than by the sea so even hotter. That said some very kind people were offering free water and fruit for pilgrims en route and we passed wonderful flowers, citrus trees, welcome woodland and lots of moving roadside shrines. We only stopped briefly a couple of times and made it to Viana do Castelo Youth Hostel (after crossing a very long bridge) by about 3pm. We washed and hung out clothes and I picked up a meal for us at the local supermarket. We’re back in a private room with a lovely view over the estuary.
