St Annes

Our wee photography group went out to Geraldine this afternoon.
This gorgeous wooden church is in a rural area near Geraldine, set in beautiful grounds, with huge trees and graveyard;  it is still used for the purpose it was built for.
Google says "St. Anne's Church is one of the oldest churches in the Christchurch Diocese and the oldest surviving example in South Canterbury. It was built in 1863 in the earliest years of settlement when bush felling was a prime industry. The church building is a Category 2 Historic Place".

Anzac Day here....we started our day at 6am watching the dawn service televised live from Wellington.  Over the years we have actually gone to our local dawn service, but not this year....and because of the pandemic this hasn't happened the last two years.

Our Ella turns 17 today, where have those years disappeared to.

Now to last night and the aurora australis hunt.
It was incredible, my first ever !!  We had to wait almost two hours until the rays started and they only lasted 15 minutes then died away.  I really didn't know what I was doing but did manage a few that showed the colours - do take a look in extra.  (f/2.4, ISO 1000, 13 second exposure).
The colours aren't enhanced unlike some I've seen on social media sites.  These colours are as they were on the back of the camera, the stars amazing too.
Happy with my evening out, but came home so so cold but bubbling with excitement.
