Fun day out
Backblip
An early start as we wanted to visit a castle before we went to the Farm.
So out of the hotel by 7.30am and on our way through beautiful countryside. Just a 30 minute journey to Caerlavarock castle. A 13 th century moted castle in the middle of no where . Lots of history of sieges especially as it’s so close to the English border. A very impressive building and a peaceful walk round soaking up the atmosphere.
Back to Dalscone Fun Farm , a very good breakfast roll of egg, bacon and tattie scone and one of the famous strawberry tarts, delicious.
Up to the barn sat just gone 10 and we timed it perfectly to catch a Boer goat giving birth. Tricky for Farmer Ben to get them out as they were twisted. A quick walk round seeing all the farm favourites then a sheep lambing , tried to twin on another , Lucky the black lamb, but she only had part of her udder working so he had to go back to the pet lambs.
Gave Zara the donkey a lovely stroke and little Willow her foal came over to say hello.
Excited to feed the lambs with Farmer Pete and Nanny McFi. Great fun, my one , green dot, drank hers in seconds :) Had a good natter with Farmer Pete.
Hay heck Hayley was next to give birth , one of my favourite goats. She had twins with just a little bit of help needed, One more boer goat birth and then it was time to start our journey home.
A good drive back, stopping for fish and chips at Dunkeld. A half hour delay on the A9 due to an accident , home at about 8,30 pm, car unloaded and ready for bed :)
