Little red
Wednesday
My CT scan appointment was at 9.30am so we left home at 8.30am just incase the traffic was busy. It was fine and we made it in plenty of time so Mike popped into Dunelm to get a new door mat.
Made my way down to Zone 2 in Raigmore Hospital. Did not have long to wait until Nurse Zoe came and collected me. She explained everything that was going to happen and after signing the permission forms I was led to the scanner.
Not the most elegant of situations to be in but it’s done and my first radiotherapy session will be on May 10th at 9am.
Decided to treat ourselves to a trip out so headed down to the Cairngorms.
First stop was Loch Garten. Mike had picked up some filled rolls from the Three Little Bakers so we enjoyed them first . Had a walk up to the Osprey Centre. Nothing on the nest when we arrived ,apparently there’s a new male on the block and the female is not to keen on him so there’s been a few chases in the air. The female did appear so we had a brief sighting before she was off again. Interesting webcam footage on a Goshawk nest. They like the female may have laid an egg.
Sat and had an icecream near the Loch.
Onto the mountain carpark , the lower one first where we watched a helicopter bringing in bits of metal bars etc from higher up the mountain.Interesting to watch.
We had a tasty Hot Chocolate in the Mountain Cafe. Went in search for snow bunting but no luck but did see a common lizard basking in the sunshine.
Next stop was Loch en Eilein. A great peaceful walk down to the cottage and back. Very Quiet which is just how we like it. The little bothy was open , she always has some nice bits and pieces. We treated ourselves to a little boot painted with flowers and birds for £1 and two Portmeirion dinner plates for £5 each. I love the colours :)
Sat and had a cup of tea and that)s when I spotted movement and was delighted to see this little squirrel approaching.
We tried to find somewhere to eat in Aviemore but not much was open or it was fully booked. We ended up back in Boat of Garten and had a meal in The Boat hotel. Very nice, I had a salmon salad with crusty bread.
The Royal Scotsman carriages ,which had been pulled by an old Diesel engine, had pulled up in the station and we could see people dinning on it.
Had a walk round the station and the Community garden, very pretty.
A difficult drive home because of the low sky but we did see a lovely sunset as we approached home.
