Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

JR still not in top form. Sneezing and snuffling, so stayed in bed. Lemon and honey drinks and tea and toast were served, which helped a wee bit.

I went to pick up Pip about 9am, and took both dogs round the block. I then went to the gym. I managed a full 20 minutes on the cross trainer. Doesn’t sound much, but BOY! It’s a killer. Also did a few arm exercises.

Then I went to the cafe, gazed at the lovely big scones, but I had a lentil soup instead. One cannot live on scones alone.

When I came home, JR and the dogs were out. She was well wrapped up, because there is still such a chilly wind. I dropped Pip home about 1pm, as Dougal was coming for the afternoon, and Pip only gets on with Archie - not keen on any other dog. Anyway, Pip’s dad was going to WFH in the afternoon, so he wasn’t left alone for long.

Dougal is such a sweet wee chap. He and Archie are good pals now, and they mooched around in the sun in the back garden all afternoon. They had a few play fights - I love watching them together and Archie getting ‘playful’.

A parcel (for next door) delivery chap came to the door, but he left the gate wide open. I thought it was Dougal’s mum back to collect him, so just opened the door and didn’t try to stop the dogs going out. But the wee monkey shot out of the gate and rushed down the road, heading for home at top speed. JR took off just as fast, but he stopped at his own gate anyway. The chap who left the gate open might not do that again…

Just having a few thoughts about a holiday that we’ve always had at the back of our minds… it’s beginning to look as if we might be able to pull it off!
