The Murray River

We went for a paddle boat cruise on The Murray today.  It was very enjoyable and decidedly interesting - but I'll never get used to the 'clean' water being brown!  We're so spoilt with our clear water in NZ.

We saw lots of birds and as always I was particularly excited by the white heron.  In Australia they are a great egret.  Our New Zealand kotuku are rarer and are smaller than the great egret.  In New Zealand ours are sacred to the Maori, I don't know if they are to the Australian Aboriginee.

The spoonbills were also putting on a great show - see extra 1.
Extra 2 is one of the trees on the banks.  I'm blowed if I know how these trees are still standing!
