Bluebells

I woke up sneezing at 6.30am, as my hay fever is bad at the moment due to all the pollen around - and the visit to RHS Wisley yesterday would not have helped. Hay fever is a relatively new ailment for me... sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes...it is annoying to get this every spring.

After seeing bluebells on blip I decided to go to the woods down our road to see if the bluebells were blooming yet. It's still very muddy at this time of year and after all the rain we have had recently it was indeed very muddy today, but we found the bluebells and they were just starting to bloom. I will go back later this week when more should be on display. I find it tricky to photograph bluebells, and it is hard to find bluebells growing wild in an uncluttered woodland, usually there are broken branches lying around and it is difficult to find the right composition.

After our walk, Gavin and I went to our local garden centre to get a few more plants that we realised we needed. We decided to see what stock they had there instead of going back to Wisley, and we were pleasantly surprised as they had a very good choice of plants and even had something we wanted that RHS Wisley did not have stock of.

Last night I watched the ITV production of the new Agatha Christie series adapted and directed by Hugh Laurie called Why Didn't They Ask Evans. I really enjoyed it, and was delighted to see that much of it was filmed in Surrey, including using the house at Polesden Lacey which is a nearby National Trust property.

I have also started planning things to do with my sister when she comes to stay with us in June - this trip was booked for July 2020 but was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic. Now finally three years later she is coming to visit.
