Last Day Here...
Another rainy, windy day in Toulouse ..and a day without internet in our room...which was disappointing as I was a little under the weather and had hoped to use the day to rest and get caught up on correspondence..
My sister did venture out into the rain for a walk to check out a couple of our favourite places, the Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse and also to the Chapelle des Carmélites. The latter is featured in the extra in a collage I made from two of her photos. The ceiling in the chapel is absolutely stunning - inspired by the Sistine Chapel.
On her way back to the hotel, my sister had a close encounter with yet another protest taking place on the street in front of our hotel..the street was closed of course and guarded by a row of policemen with shields..but she said that everyone was well-behaved! One of the un-shielded police officers made sure that she got around the chaos and home safely!
The excitement here never ends! And as usual my sister was in the middle of it!
Tomorrow we are to be picked up and taken to Limoux for our watercolour vacation..Pick-up time is here at the hotel at noon - that is, if the street is not closed again for another protest..If it is..who knows when and where?
We are getting somewhat accustomed to stated times and places being merely "suggestions"...
