Sun on the clock face

The clock tower on the church at the top to the village has its own bells which do not compete with ours. They ring out the Angelus twice a day and strike the hours on the hour and again at two minutes past the hour. This is a very good idea for anyone working in the fields as it is easy to miscount the first striking but the second striking can be counted more carefully. This system operates all over France and I used to enjoy repairing larger French clocks with these mechanisms. I did some admin in the morning then enjoyed a couple of hours tennis in the afternoon. We had some spots of rain but it came to nothing.
