Little Golden Book collection
As promised Ted, today's blip is of my Little Golden Book collection.
I started collecting LGBs when I was pregnant with Miss M. I was looking for a book from my childhood about a little girl whose mum had a new baby, but I couldn't remember what it was called. It is in fact called "The New Baby" but was also published as "Baby Dear" . I started to buy other LGBs that I remembered from my childhood........and never stopped. Today I have over 1000. Some of the titles are doubled up, but I try and buy ones that I don't have, first publications and older books in really good condition. The most I have spent is AUS$50 on one book. The books that had extra "bits" still attached are worth the most. So if you have "Doctor Dan the Bandage Man" with the original band aids still attached, it would be worth a mint! The most cherished books in my collection are those that were my mum's. LGBs were first published in Australia in the early 40s so my mum's books were some of the first. One of them is the first Australian LGB "Prayers for Children"
