Our Local Library

Keighley's public library, of which the town is justifiably proud, was the first to be opened in England. It was funded by a grant of £10,000 from the Scottish-American philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie. Now a Grade 2 listed building, it was opened in 1904 and is cited and one of the most remarkable public buildings in the North of England. It was fully refurbished in 2007, and houses over 40,000 books. It also offers free internet access, regular storytimes for children and IT sessions for beginners and learners
We had hail today as well as sunshine, so the spring flowers and blossom won't hang on much longer, but at the moment they are still giving us a lovely show of colour in front of the library.
