St Mary's Church
St Mary's belongs to the village in the valley behind us yet it has a wonderful view - see extra photo. It was originally built in 1123 but has been restored in the 15 C and again in the Victorian period. This year they will be celebrating their 900th anniversary! There was an earlier church on the site before then and also a teaching cross from the time of King Alfred of Wessex. The base still survives.
Today has been the warmest day yet. I was woken up this morning by a Song Thrush and watched a Yellow Brimstone butterfly in the garden.
