3 Nests
As part of the Festival of Colour , there was a short walk with 3 Nests installed along the way. The eggs in the nests represented NZ extinct indigenous birds. As we approached the nest, the egg would light up and talk about their own extinction. It was so clever and the laughing owl had us laughing out loud with its story and it’s laugh.
I so admire the creativity and cleverness of the artists .
Last night, the Modern Māori Quartet were fabulous. Today we were treated to more conversations on “Family Dynamics” - 2 authors talking about their Memoirs, and then “Racism and the Media” - 2 journalists talking. All were interviewed by the very able interviewer- Kathryn Ryan - I think she is an amazing interviewer.
So, the Festival finishes tonight, and we have to wait another 2 years before we have this amazing Feast of the Arts again.
PS - Just added (for my own record) a photo of the Crystal Palace where many of the Conversations and some musical events took place. This “pop up tent” is owned by 4 different Festival Groups and travels around the country.
The Wānaka Community Centre plus smaller community halls in Luggate and Hawea have also been used.
