Bread and Dirty Deer

A mad day. M had to take Jess to the vets first thing as she’d thrown up some blood (all ok apparently, probably some of the grass she’d eaten had scratched her throat). I made the first of a load of bread to put in the freezer for visitors arriving in just over a week. Had a call for a larger than expected magnet order so got going on that then took dogs out over the field where they found a ‘new’ ball and we saw the very dirty deer. Once home I went back to the magnets then M came in looking worried holding very little of the remains of the ball. Maddie was the culprit. Phoned vet, tried using sodium carbonate as instructed, to make her vomit. Very messy administering but no joy. Tried again after 15 minutes as advised, still nothing so took her over to the vets (almost an hour’s drive away). Stopped at one point as could hear a dog about to vomit, wrong dog. Continued to the vets. Maddie got the special vomiting jag and Jess got a walk, quite happy by now. We got home about 8.45pm. Pretty tired, dogs too. Very grateful to have such a caring non judgmental vet.
