Covid Day Two
Woke up at 4am completely breathless and coughing myself silly. Managed to drift off back to sleep until 6am and then got up and had a coffee and rang NHS24.
I was lucky and got through within fifteen minutes and then was advised to ring my GP surgery at 8am. I got a swift callback from a GP who has prescribed steroids which are helping my breathing.
Got out for some fresh air at Dock Park on the way home from picking up the steroids - I rang ahead to check they would be ready.
I won’t go into it as I am completely exhausted but feeling very let down by the so-called compassionate professionals today. No help whatsoever to collect my meds and avoid going out with Covid and I certainly wasn’t going to burden my friends when they have lives, children, jobs and other commitments.
I do hope the cough eases off, it’s very irritating. I had pleurisy in my late 20s and that was horrendous but a different horrendous and I didn’t have fibromyalgia and joint hypermobility syndrome when I had it.
On the upside, I enjoyed the fresh air. I am hoping rest and the steroids and my usual barrage of inhalers will get me through this.
I heard that there’s been an increase in Covid cases locally. I have been using hand gel etc since it all began and been my usual careful, cautious self but it seems there are no rules.
I’m feeling very grateful for my friends today. I have overdone things walking (over 15,000 steps, burning all over) and Duolingo German revision lesssons have completely fallen by the wayside but will start over.
Listened to music and rested this evening. Very thirsty all day and horribly sweaty - if I ever write my autobiography, I’m definitely calling it “Born Thirsty”!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, I will catch up with comments, stars and hearts :) xx
