Venice

We arrived in Venice last night so today was our first glimpse.

We were not disappointed, first stop was breakfast in the oldest cafe in Venice Cafe Florian. I had a lovely coffee and pastry.

We then had a walk around the narrow streets stopping in shops and taking lots of photos. We found the famous Harry’s bar which is famous for the first ever Bellini, so we had to have one, the bar is also famous as Ernest Hemingway used to drink in there. We then stopped at a little bar which served bread slices with different toppings which were yummy.

This afternoon we had a walking tour which was really good, they took us out of the main tourist areas and down lots of narrow streets giving us lots of history of Venice. The tour ended with a Gondola ride around the canals.

After the tour we headed to a different neighbourhood called Castello which is where a lot of the restaurants that the locals visit are. We had found a lovely little restaurant and have the best spaghetti and prawn pasta.

We then had a walk back to the main area to get an ice cream from one of the best Gelatos in Venice Suso, there is always a queue because the ice cream is so good!

28,000 steps later we’ve completed everything we wanted to do in Venice and thoroughly enjoyed it!
