Change of plan
And not one, but two phone photos today!
I set off for yoga this morning, only to find the car had a flat tyre. S had already been out in it to go running (he drives down to the seafront because it's too hilly up here), and the low-pressure light lit up on the way back -- he didn't pay it any mind, as 99% of the time it's fiction, in fact he didn't even mention it. When I started the engine and it lit up immediately, I actually got out and looked at the tyres, and yes -- one obvious flat. So, no yoga.
This car is one of those stupid ones that has no spare wheel. But our breakdown insurance covers us everywhere in the EU, so why faff about trying to squirt mastic into it? S rang up the insurers and they sent a breakdown guy. I naively thought he'd fix it on the spot, but no -- he loaded the car and took it, along with S, to the nearest garage. In retrospect, I realised it made sense because with no spare wheel he couldn't just change the wheel.
Unfortunately the garage didn't have the requisite tyre, so they had to order it. They told S it would be done by 4:30 so he killed time in town and then went to his pilates session. After that he was hungry, so he made a virtue of necessity and went to the Pajaritos for lunch (extra) -- luckily in Spain you can still be served lunch at 3:30. And the fish there is so good!
Then it turned out that the tyre hadn’t arrived. Sigh. So, carless, he walked back home. Meanwhile I'd been making bread and chilling on the terrace.
Update: the tyre has now arrived, so hopefully we'll get the car back in the morning.
