Orchid Evening

After a busy day, I was looking forward to attending a charity event at Jersey's Eric Young Orchid Foundation. I had no idea of the extent of orchid growing (and Chelsea prize winning) that goes on at this fascinating place.  Orchids of many kinds, including their own hybrids, and lots of fascinating info. Also a wonderful library of antiquarian books and art on the subject. Of course I took lots of photos so it was hard to choose which to blip. 

The orchid in extras was won in the raffle by friend I. Getting this rather gangly and elegant plant home in a small car was a challenge!

The weather is atrocious this evening, high winds and rain. Tia turned for home pretty quickly when we went out for her evening constitutional!
