Sleeping Beauty , well hidden .

Somedays it seems quite a challenge to recall how I’ve spent my time , it is of course , good to be challenged !I met couple of old friends for a drink and catchup last night [ Polly and Kate] and got home quite late. Too late to blip.

This morning I completely overslept and ended up rushing over to see Jess without having time for breakfast. I can’t describe how much I dislike having to rush after a lifetime lived at speed. It leaves me feeling all churned up , what ever resilience  I had is long gone.
Anyway, I took my tea in a flask and some fruit and then pushed the pram with a small sleeping beauty into the woods so that her mother could have a piece of time , home alone, to tidy up.
She has engaged a very pleasant person to come and do some cleaning once a fortnight which means that she has to do a big tidy up before they come. It felt like a big deal to get help ,but you can’t do everything especially when both she and Chris work from home. Having the help has made a big difference.
I can report that Freya slept peacefully for a  couple of hours and Jess really enjoyed just being by herself.
I remember that feeling!

This afternoon I ran a few errands including picking  up two library books that I had reserved, I’m expecting to enjoy both and will no doubt mention them. A third book arrived through the post, I’m sure I shall mention that too. One is a biography , one a book of refections linked to lent and the third about ordinary people reclaiming their right to walk the land .

Just before sunset, Bramble and I had a walk in a different set of woods and came home just as the Blackbirds were starting their evensong. I really like this time of year when plants are bursting back into life but before the trees burst into leaf. I enjoy the openness of the woodland. Ash trees overlook the front of our house creating shade , I’m happy that these trees are generally the last to grown their leafy coats. I am not happy with the shade they create , they have tree preservation order on them so that is that but it means we avoid using the front room between May and October which seems a shame.

Grateful ,
that I live near my daughter,
To have access to the library,
To live near pleasant spots for walking .
