Smitingen Bay - the small harbour
The small shallow harbour is filled with icefloes, all blown in, and kept here, by the wind.
We had a gorgeous walk out across the beach (furthest back in this picture) and then along the north shore rocks you see on the right. We carried on, almost as far again, to the final bay before the open sea. Then we returned along the path through the trees, which was quicker than the rock-hopping we did on the way out.
It really has been a glorious day with the sun feeling warm if you could get out of the wind. For the first time this year we sat on the veranda outside the Red House and drank a pre-breakfast coffee in the morning sun.
After our walk we headed to Rose's for the usual delicious dinner and then on to FilmStudio for the final film of the spring season. Tonight's offering was an Italian film from 1974, directed by Ettore Scola, "We All Loved Each Other So Much". I had never heard of this film so had no great expectations but I was totally impressed. There were so many clever ideas pushing the story forward in different ways. It is also a film about the love of the cinema and other Italian films, and directors, are part of this film. On top of all that there was a lot of fun, as well as serious themes. Jan and Rose enjoyed the film but were slightly less enthusiastic than I was. Back home I checked this film out and on Rotten Tomatoes 20 public reviews were very positive, giving it mostly 9 or 10 out of 10. (2 reviews really didn't like it though giving much lower marks!)
The extras today were a shadow picture "Me and my tree", just put there for fun, and a view of the north shore from the beach, showing where we walked. Jan's blip gives other information and views.
