Villa Gregoriana of Tivoli
Crags, caverns, waterfalls and the Roman temple of Vesta. Pope Gregory had this “Villa” built in 1835 as a natural park for the public to enjoy — blending the natural and the artificial to evoke classical times. It was a ‘must see’ for the 19th c elite on a Grand European Tour. The Aniene River forms the waterfalls and grottos and carved the crags and caverns of the deep gorge.
