A commented yesterday that they'd had lunch in a beachside restaurant and seen other customers send their kids off to play on the beach unattended. "You can do that here ... there's no tide, and the Mediterranean gives you your children back!" It's fair to say that the sea has been like glass the last few days. On this basis we decided an afternoon on the beach was on the cards, after I'd had a very satisfying yoga session, and S had his first pilates class with ace physiotherapist MariVi.
We went to Cantarrijan of course -- lunch at La Barraca, where else? It was briskly windy, but not disagreeably so. And the waves were mighty. This is quite tame ... the breakers, the surface tension making them look metallic, were chucking foam a metre or more into the air. Everyone on the beach watched a daring couple plunge through them to swim far out, beyond the breakers. They stayed in the water for quite a long time -- maybe it's warmer than I thought, or (more likely) they were well hard. With waves like these I wasn't going to try it. Would not recommend it for unattended children either.
