Hero platform
Drama production uses the word ‘hero’ widely, not just for the leading actor but also to tag the key element in the story or frame, to focus where the story is. So hero car, is the key car that the camera has to follow, hero bag is the one with the money in etc etc. So this platform 10 is the hero platform in our story, the platform from where the train sets off. And here is producer Jonathan talking to the film officer from Network Rail whilst we recce’d it.
The day started light and sunny but with a stiff breeze that developed into fierce winds, channelling down the wide streets. I had a terrible night and finally got to sleep at 3.30am watching old episodes of Blue Planet, very soothing hearing David Attenborough’s voice and watching Orcas chomping through seals…
I spent most of the day wrangling casting off to the side as time leaches away before we start shooting. Highly stressful and ultimately not totally successful. I have dubbed it casting chess, I sort of know where we’ll get to but i have to negotiate my way towards it.
Dinner out with Jonathan and Wendy in a friendly restaurant called Red Onion.
