Echinoderm

Went for a walk along the sea front at Dun Laoighaire today and came across this art installation, in the shape of a large bronze sea urchin (see extra). The view in the distance is of the Martello Tower at Sandycove.
Martello towers were forts built around the Irish coast at the beginning of  the 19th century, amid fears of a possible invasion by Napolean. The Sandycove Martello tower was made famous by James Joyce in the opening scene of "Ulysses", which is set in the tower, where Joyce himself once stayed, albeit very briefly.
