Yorktown

So you can tell - we were doing the Dining Room today. I emptied the dresser, sorted all the crockery and glassware, decided the stuff we really didn’t need . . . then Gordon cleaned the carpet. I have always wanted a wooden floor in there but never got round to doing anything about it.

One thing we found under the eaves last week was a big box with a complete dinner/tea service - all carefully wrapped and then put away and forgotten about it. It has probably been there for 20 years.

What a surprise. This was our first crockery, we probably got most of it for wedding presents and then added to it as we could. It’s Royal Doulton china ‘Yorktown’. I know I loved it at the time, it now looks a bit ‘twee’. I have kept these pieces and found room for them in the dresser. All the rest is in a box to see if our girls want any of it - the answer might be ‘no’ - except that at the family house there are never enough plates, so they might overlook the pattern - they might even like it!
