An Iris By Any Other Name

The African Irises are beginning to bloom! Sometimes called the fortnight lily, Dietes iridaceae or African Iris is native to Southern Africa and is an evergreen perennial. It apparently enjoys growing here in Gainesville and we have a large patch of it in our backyard. It spreads readily but is easy to keep under control.
