Frog thief

As the temperatures have plummeted, the heron's visits have become ever more frequent. We try to discourage it, but it's persistent, and catches frogs often enough to keep coming back. The predation doesn't seem to greatly affect the frog population - today we counted sixty-two clumps of spawn. I just hope they don't all freeze.

We had the first snow of the year this evening, not a great deal, but enough to create a snowy blanket over the lawn and evergreen bushes.
