New Bird In Town

For the past few days I have seen a couple of birds in the garden that I don’t recognise…

I though it sort of looked like a chaffinch - similar size and with wing flashes…

I have seen them chasing off other birds - robins, tits and even the much bigger blackbirds. I even saw one pinning a blue tit on the ground and fighting! They seem quite feisty little things!!

I managed to get a shot of one today - albeit a bit hazy as it is through the kitchen window at maximum zoom! Quite a severe crop again!!

Anyway I think it is a female blackcap! Any birders out there able to confirm?

I don’t recall seeing one before.
