Cheer

This rhododendron came to us as a gift to cheer us at a sad time twenty one years ago. It has continued to cheer us every year but it has surpassed itself this year. Rhodos make their flowers the previous summer and all the rain must have suited it. It does very well, considering it is in a pot. We can't put it out in the garden because it wouldn't enjoy our alkaline soil.

The door behind it formerly led to the outside toilet when our home housed the horses and coachman for a nearby house. (It's OK, we don't have to go outside any more!) The rest of the little building was a tack room. Now Normous has knocked down the interior wall and has the whole area as his shed.

A very dull day today - we need this cheer!
