…this photo was taken—on Guttenberg castle (ruined in the 16th century, near the French-German border, where much, much more was ruined in the followed centuries), South Palatinate, Germany. Courtesy of the Schengen Agreement, since 1985 no more border controls are executed. (There were exceptions made due to the Covid pandemic.) — Another historical building we passed by on today’s tour is Hambach palace, extra no. 1, which played a major role in the early 19th century (failed) revolution. — A fake fossil is in the second extra.
