Fly on Crocus

Not a great shot, but it's the first bug on flower of 2023 for me...

I've had a very slow day. The continuing shoulder strain kept me awake much of last night and today it has been quite nice to sit in the lounge and snooze in the sunshine. Mid-afternoon I did rouse myself sufficiently to pick up the (currently too heavy) camera and go searching for something to blip.

This early hoverfly has his tongue wedged firmly in the heart of the crocus. Bulking up food energy for the forthcoming re-wintering, perhaps.
