Albufeira Marina

We awoke to grey skies and light rain this morning but it had more or less stopped after breakfast so we walked down to the new marina which was created as an inland extension of the old harbour. Apparently, the colourful apartments caused some controversy but I rather like their nautical jolliness. The heron in extras was looking out for the subjects of the other one

We wandered all round the marina to the far end of the harbour wall and suddenly the clouds broke and blue sky returned. We took the chance to sit in a bar in front of the apartments to soak up the sun with a beer and sangria respectively then headed back up the coast path where we discovered a cafe with a terrace overlooking the sea where we shared a tapas plate of mixed local meats, cheeses and olives.

A Canadian chap, a fellow customer, made my day (year?) by coming over to our table to tell me I looked just like Richard Branson (he was on at least his third glass of wine!).Tess’s response was to wish I had his money (and his looks, I suspect) but I’m not going to let her forget how lucky she is for a while!

After a bit of reading time, we had a late afternoon stroll on the beach before another excellent meal of monkfish tonight.
