Train Street
The day was spent exploring parts of Hanoi on foot and I had read about Train Street so we set off following Google maps on my phone to try and find it . it wasn’t easy negotiating crowded streets blocked with mopeds but amazingly we found it just as a train was about to pass through.
The single track was built in the Old Quarter of Hanoi in the early 20th century during French Colonial rule and the houses appeared some time later to house railway workers.
I am sure UK Health and Safety would never allow cafes to spring up only feet from the track and people to crowd there as these large trains rumble past. I stayed on the other side !
As one of the extras shows children were back playing on the track before the train was out of sight !
