Burial mound

Took a trip back to Llanddwyn with Helen and Liz and we walked up to and around the lighthouse today and looked out over the Lleyn peninsula shrouded in clouds and the suns rays falling through mist. We were due to meet my brother, Dave, there but he was not where expected so we eventually met at the exit to the forest and drove to park at Plas Newydd and have a coffee there!

The three of us then went to Bryn Celli Ddu to see the ancient burial chamber which is aligned with the rising sun on midsummers day! It is obviously still used for different ceremonies as there are a number of votives in the chamber.

Dave meanwhile went to find an art gallery in Menai bridge and found it had closed so he headed straight back to Henllys to wait for us there! He approved of the accommodation and we had coffee from his flask which he had made for the picnic we had talked about but didn’t manage as we had devoured our sandwiches on the walk .

We had decided on Take away Indian that evening so Dave stayed and joined us and he and I collected it from the restaurant in Beaumaris. Helen unfortunately was not feeling too good having started with a bad cold and getting chilled and having a dripping nose so after dinner while we were drinking coffee she put her head under a towel over a basin of boiling water with tea tree oil in it whilst conversing knowledgeably about using green energy and the varieties of green energy that are being developed! She retired to bed at about nine o’clock and the rest of us yarned on until Dave left at about 11pm to drive home to his place near Denbigh! It was good to see him and I was glad that I had been able to give him the wood that I had been given for him to use his wood turning skills on! (Bad sentence construction ending with a preposition! )

Anyway time for bed after a very happy day. Happy St David’s Day to you all!!

Extra. Beautiful stretch of beach beyond the isthmus of Llanddwyn with the backs of Helen and Liz who do not like to have their pictures taken
The view across to the Lleyn
The votives in the burial chamber
