Tunnel vision
This is the foot tunnel that links the car park side of Woking Station with the car park side. The tiled mural depicts a locomotive in the British Railways livery that was introduced when the railway system was nationalised in 1948. The name changed to British Rail in 1965 and it is ironic that the privatised system we have had since the mid-1990s is to be renamed as Great British Railways. Polling suggests that a majority of the British public would like the railway system to be brought back into public ownership. Certainly, I have moments of nostalgia for British Rail which I remember as a pretty reliable service, which is not the case these days on the Woking to Waterloo service.
