Dog wrapped around a tree
Lead wrapped around tree,
sunny day for a park walk.
Worth the muddy paws!
Mr KCNQ2Haiku is still in London but we're holding the fort OK, Ben slept well, his bloods were high so there was a bit of messing about with insulin but I don't mind that when there's no drama. In then morning I took Ben to school and then Leo had a walk in the nearby park. It was a gorgeous sunny morning and he had a blast. He got caught around this tree and wouldn't retrace his steps so we did a little dance for a while which amused me. I'm looking forward to him being off lead so he can explore more, I just need to test the recall in an open space somewhere and I've been too chicken! I think I need some moral support, Mr KCNQ2Haiku is off work on Friday so I think I might rope him in!
I popped to the shops, made a bolognaise and did a bit of hoovering. Then I had some governor prep stuff to do for a meeting with the head teacher tomorrow. I also chased the local authority to see if they'd decided on the allocation of social care support. The social worker said they were waiting for senior managers to decide but she'd let me know.
I fetched Ben from school, he was angsty, he got in the front passenger seat and was trying to rip off the sun visor thing and kick the windscreen. I managed to distract with the help of staff and he got in the back eventually.
When we got home the social worker emailed to say we have been referred to the complex needs team and will be allocated a disability social worker who will be in touch in the next few days. I am really surprised that we didn't have to jump through the hoops of the lower levels of early help etc first.. but I'm happy. Obviously not counting our chickens until we've seen what tangible, practical support this can bring us but it's a good step.
At home Ben has been up and down, he was very angry because he got the hiccups and it wouldn't settle, he was banging the windows and walls and lashing out. I can understand how horrid it feels to have persistent hiccups but it's also hard when things are so extreme. The last hour has been OK though, so that's a good start to the bedtime routine :-) I'll be very glad when Mr KCNQ2Haiku is home tomorrow though!!
