View across the Menai straits looking east
For Helen’s first morning we walked the long way round to Beaumaris down the hill away from Beaumaris which is where this shot was taken as Helen took a picture. I so rarely have people in my shots and I loved the light and shade and the clouds!
Extra: my frog like, half eaten semla! We each ate half for a little snack at tea time and saved the rest for dessert to eat with raspberries and cream! The filling was a bit stodgy but I used ground almonds with the crumbs and some soft brown sugar, a smidgen, and a bit of double cream and milk to mix. Tasted good enough but not like the ones in Sweden!
The life boat was launched while we were in Beaumaris near the pier and there was a tannoy to say it would happen, in Welsh and English, so I took a shot of the lifeboat waiting to launch, the tractor pushed it into the sea. We wondered if was a practice but it was a shout! One boat had lost power and another boat was helping it but struggling so they went to assist! I had seen three young men scooting or cycling very fast onto the pier just before the announcement and had thought how dangerous and reckless that was but thinking back it was probably the volunteers for the shout. Extraordinary to realise that all lifeboat men and women are volunteers and fund raising for them is just for equipment to enable them to do a sterling job!
