Temple Bar Nightlife

So we are here in Dublin! Our hotel seems to be right in the middle of the Temple Bar area, 'a lively enclave of cafés, bars and theatres'. It's another world to us country yokels. I couldn't decide on the main blip but the girls won me over, partying with the busker. The first extra was going to be the main until we came across the girls. The other extra is an 8 second shot of the River Liffey. Who needs a tripod when there is a well placed pillar.

We had a reasonable journey. There was a slightly worrying hold up on the M42 close to the airport but we got there in plenty of time. I used my Irish passport for the first time! We discovered that Aer Lingus priority boarding is just like Ryanair in that it means you just get to queue up in a different place, in this case a stairwell. We had a stag party in the rows in front of us which was a bit annoying, but the flight time was only 45 minutes. We came into the wrong gate though so had to wait another 30 minutes before we could disembark. Our hotel deal included a free taxi from the airport and the driver was waiting for us as we came through arrivals. He was extremely friendly and helpful, recommending loads of pubs and restaurants. We did find it a bit difficult understanding him at times. We had to take a tortuous route to get the hotel as the centre of Dublin was closed off. The hotel is super though a bit like a rabbit warren inside. We had to go down stairs then upstairs twice to get to our room. We have trams dinging regularly outside and the TV seems basically the same as at home, BBC, ITV etc.

In other news our decorator spent all day at our house, with a joiner who is replacing part of the stairs. We know this as we saw them arrive on our Ring doorbell camera, and got notifications when the alarm was disarmed and reset later.

PS I had my first Guinness of the trip this evening.
