Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Still no improvement in the cough/cold woozy head department. Though a good sleep, which always helps. In fact the symptoms have changed a bit - now my nose runs alarmingly with no warning. My eyes are sore, and my ears are ringing. Hey-Ho.

JR went off to the gym, and Pip came over about 10am - Abi has changed her days and hours. JR took them both out for a walk during the day. I managed to get up enough energy to take Archie round the block later, while Pip had his tea before his dad came to take him home.

I spent quite a lot of time scrolling through TikTok videos of the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle in New Zealand. It’s only when you see vast areas covered in mud and silt, water up to the roofs of houses, houses perched on edges of cliffs, about to fall off, bridges and roads washed away, piles and piles of ‘slash’ - the logs and debris just left lying around once the hundreds and hundreds of forestry trees have been chopped down in the hills. This has done such a lot of damage. It’s absolutely heartbreaking. It will take a LONG time to recover. I think they’ve asked Australia for help, and they need it. Poor Kiwis. The individual stories will start to come out now.

I got a phone call from Spire, the private hospital - I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon next week! Action at last.

JR took her Ugg slippers off to put her boots on, and Pip, naughty boy, grabbed a slipper and started shaking it around and chewing it, which is pretty normal behaviour for dogs, but it’s something Archie, bless him, has never done. He looks on disapprovingly…
