Butterbur
On Sunday I was out in West Deeping for my first recording trip in VC53 since the New Year Plant Hunt. It was good to see plenty of early spring species now coming into flower including Common Whitlow-grass and Sweet Violet in the churchyard. Yellow Nonea, recorded in the churchyard by the South Lincs Flora Group in 2015, appears to have loved last year's weather and was very abundant - it'll be a real picture in a month or so.
Another interesting find was Butterbur growing on the edge of the Mill Stream close to the road bridge. This was recorded as planted in 2017, but is now definitely established. There are several other colonies along the Welland from Stamford to Market Deeping but it's generally fairly rare in the local area.
