The best footballer in the world… and CR7

We’re in Funchal for the day. We arrived in the early hours and when we got up st 7 it was dark so couldn’t tell what the place was like!
By 8 we were off and in town and got the cable car to the top ( Monte)
We then wandered down , having decided not to take the notorious toboggan but try and follow the levada( water courses ) downhill. The sun was out and it was lovely. Had a coffee at a terrace cafe, tried out my best Portuguese ( obrigado) and watched the toboggan run at various points .
We arrived back in port at about 2, and wandered back to the boat via the CR7 monument and museum as he is Madeiran. They’re clearly very proud of Cristiano and no doubt he brings in revenue whatever your opinion of him.

Once back on board we had a late lunch and now waiting for sailway at 4. It’s gone very cloudy so we’ve had a fortunate day. 20000 steps, with Dinner and a show to look forward to :)
