Baylight Festival
Some idle Facebook scrolling revealed that today was Blip’s seventh anniversary of being community-owned. Happy Anniversary Blipfoto! Easily my favourite of the few “socials” I frequent.
Aside from a head-clearing walk into town we had quite a late, slow start to the day, which was very welcome. Following lunch, I even carved out a brief nap, which gave just the boost I needed before we headed off down to LadyV’s for the afternoon.
The children were very excited to see each other and I was excited to tackle a sticky handle on one of LadyV’s doors (not as dirty as it sounds). The children all played together nicely and The Eldest kindly gave a couple more Tarot readings to much hilarity. We then collected ourselves and had a scoot down the prom to the Baylight Festival. I’ll confess that as the wind whipped around blowing cold drizzle into our faces, I did for a moment think that maybe we had made a terrible mistake and perhaps this wasn’t such a good idea after all, but the wind and rain eased and we made it to our destination.
We found this mirror type display and then with fumbling cold hands, we helped the children adorn their scooters with glow-sticks that LadyV had picked up. As we made our way back up a heaving prom, we could head them getting plenty of admiring glances (seems to be a feature of being in LadyV’s presence…)
The light displays were great, but I have to say that we didn’t linger too long as it was getting a little chilly and there were SO many other people. Essentially, my own private hell. The great thing about going out and getting a bit chilly, is that (most of us) get to go back to base camp and warm up.
We arrived just in time, as the KFC we’d ordered was there to greet us. We munched our way through - first time my lot had ever had one and sadly the reviews were good - as we watched the final few singers unmask themselves and we all agreed that (no spoilers) Fawn had been robbed.
Cracking day.
P.S. I’m pleased with my blip today as for once I actually took my camera out and MANUALLY adjusted the settings!! I know!
