Nuba Survival
Its been a dark damp day and I've been wandering in a different, rather bleak, part of the Chilterns. I was surprised to find this huge statue in a field next to a dilapidated barn. There are no signs or information about it but I subsequently discovered that its known as 'The Nuba Survival' and was created by the sculptor John Buckley following a visit to Southern Sudan in 2001. It reminded me of the month I spent in the same area in 1982 where malnutrition was apparent everywhere.
