Better a Devil . . .
You know . . . than one you don't . . .
Quite a weekend for Red Devils. Tomorrow Alex Ferguson is in charge of his final game as Manager of Manchester United - I am far from a fan but I have to admire what he has achieved in his career.

Today - this is the Stonegate Devil in York, placed on the wall outside No 33 Stonegate, York. Red Devils are the symbol of a printer and this one indicates the way to the shop where, at one time, Thomas Gent had his printing works.

Stonegate itself is one of the main streets leading down from The Minster. Two metres below it lies the Roman Pavement Via Praetoria.

A grand place to visit - especially in better weather !
