Athens of the North

on yet another sunny day, one of potentially five this year, I headed up Calton Hill which reminded me of my task to find a cultural link between Scotland and Greece to celebrate their presidency in the first half of 2014. Now we know that Edinburgh is oft known as 'Athens of the North' and Calton Hill displays one of the iconic buildings which led to this name. However, to my shame amazement as I watched Eurovision last night was the performance by Greece's offering Koza Mostra. A Greek folk band wearing kilts. My thoughts went to the Beltane Fire Festival on Calton Hill and how they could perform swirling in their kilts. Their song "alcohol is free" might not go down too well with the latest minimum pricing on alcohol policy!!

Okay it's Friday and I am scrapping at the bottom of my creative barrel!!
