Shedding Snow

Thanks to the steel roofing, my house sheds snow beautifully but the barn and the back of the ell roof are old and don't shed it as quickly.  Sometimes it forms these curly snow shelves as it melts.  This one is on the barn.  I love the warm sun coming through the trees.  Can you spot the wee chickadee?  We have a good, mild week of melting ahead.  Such a relief.  When these snow shelves slide off, they do it with a roar and a crash that sends Louisa May running for safety under the bed!  It is a very welcome noise for me.
